About Film Sheets

Cut to Your Specification

Stock sizes never quite fit. Standard shapes don't match your containers. Off-the-shelf film is either too thick or too thin, or the wrong material entirely - and then products stick, spoil, or don't release properly. We cut sheets to your specification.

When Products Come Out Stuck Together

The catering pack arrives at the kitchen and the bacon rashers are frozen into a solid block. Staff waste time defrosting the whole pack to get individual portions, or hack at it with a knife and tear half the rashers. Either way, the processor gets a complaint call asking why they’re not using interleaving.

Or the burger manufacturer pulls patties from cold storage and they’re welded together - the line stops while someone separates them by hand, damaging product and losing throughput.

Or the artisan cheese maker wraps their carefully aged brie in standard film, and the ammonia that should escape during ripening gets trapped against the rind. The cheese develops off-flavours, the batch is ruined, and they’re back to searching for a supplier who understands cheese.

These are material selection problems. The bacon and burgers needed interleaving sheets with the right release properties. The cheese needed breathable cellophane, not barrier film. Getting this wrong costs product, reputation, and customers.

We convert rolls of packaging film into precisely cut sheets - any material up to 900mm x 2000mm. BOPP, polyester, LDPE, cellophane, NatureFlex, laminates. Most of our sheet work is for food processing, though we handle everything from florist wrap to dental mould release.

Interleaving for Meat and Fish

Interleaving sheets sit between sliced or portioned products to prevent sticking - bacon rashers, sliced ham, salmon fillets, burger patties, pizza bases. Without them, products bond together during storage and handling, making separation difficult or impossible without damage.

The material choice depends on what you’re processing:

Polypropylene is the workhorse for meat and fish interleaving. Clear film for visibility, white for a clean look, pearlised for premium presentation. It’s food-safe, releases cleanly from product surfaces, and handles fresh, chilled, and frozen applications. For burger patties going into a freezer, polypropylene lets each disc separate cleanly months later without defrosting the stack.

Polyester (PET) offers higher temperature resistance - useful if products will be reheated in the interleaving or if your process involves heat sealing nearby.

LDPE is cost-effective and recyclable, with the added benefit of being available in blue - useful for fish and meat processing where detection matters. It’s also flexible enough to conform to irregular product shapes.

The finish matters too. Some products release better from glossy film, others from matt. Some processors want perforated sheets to allow airflow and prevent condensation. We can advise based on your specific product and process.

Why Cheese Needs to Breathe

Cheese is more demanding than meat. Soft and mould-ripened varieties - brie, camembert, washed rinds - are still developing after they leave the dairy. They need to respire, releasing moisture and gases as part of the maturation process. Wrap them in barrier film and you trap those gases against the rind, creating off-flavours and ruining the texture.

Cellophane is the traditional choice for cheese wrapping. Made from regenerated cellulose, it’s naturally permeable to moisture and allows gas exchange while still providing protection. That crinkly, transparent wrap you see around artisan cheeses at farmers’ markets and quality delis - that’s cellophane doing its job.

NatureFlex is the modern alternative - a wood-pulp derived film that’s certified home compostable while providing similar breathability. For cheese makers positioning around sustainability, NatureFlex wrapping aligns the packaging with the natural product inside.

We work closely with cheese makers on material selection because getting this wrong genuinely ruins product. A film that works perfectly for cheddar will destroy a soft-ripened cheese. The consultation is part of what we offer.

Bakery and Confectionery

Film sheets solve handling problems in bakeries and patisseries. A printed film collar wrapped around a custard slice lets customers pick it up without touching the filling. Interleaving between stacked pastries prevents them sticking together in the display case.

For baked goods, the material needs to balance visibility with protection. Clear film shows the product, but some items need matt finish to reduce glare. Perforated sheets let fresh-baked goods breathe rather than sweating in their wrapping.

Beyond Rectangles

Not everything needs to be a rectangle. We die-cut sheets into discs for burger patties and cake tins, squares for portion control, and custom shapes for specific containers or applications. One customer uses die-cut nylon sheets for dental mould release - a niche we didn’t anticipate but were happy to solve.

Perforation opens up further possibilities. Patterns from P1 (widely spaced holes) through to P360 (dense coverage) control airflow for products that need to breathe without full exposure. We can perforate in zones rather than across the whole sheet if that’s what the application needs.

Combined with printing - up to four colours in-house, ten through our partners - and you’re into branded presentation territory. Printed interleaving, branded cheese wraps, promotional materials cut to shape.

Gift Wrapping and Presentation

Cellophane sheets aren’t just for food. Florists use them for bouquet wrapping - that classic crinkly presentation that frames flowers beautifully. Gift hamper businesses use them for that finished, premium look. Candle makers, soap makers, anyone presenting a product for retail.

For these applications, we’re cutting from the same food-grade materials, just for non-food purposes. The quality and clarity matter just as much.

Who Uses Film Sheets

Meat processors running production lines with portioning equipment. Burger patties, bacon rashers, sliced ham - anywhere products need to separate cleanly from storage.

Fish processors interleaving fillets for retail and food service. Salmon, cod, smoked fish - often with perforated sheets to manage moisture.

Cheese makers and maturers wrapping soft and semi-soft cheeses in breathable film. Artisan dairies where material selection directly affects product quality.

Bakery chains using printed film collars for pastry handling. Custard slices, éclairs, anything customers need to pick up without touching filling.

Pizza manufacturers interleaving dough bases for frozen or chilled distribution. The bases need to separate cleanly whether used tomorrow or three months from now.

Gift and hamper businesses wrapping products for premium presentation. Florists, confectioners, luxury food retailers.

Industrial manufacturers using sheets for component separation, surface protection, and process applications.
