Sugar pulls moisture from the air. Fats oxidise. Flavours escape. Confectionery is demanding to package well - the wrong barrier properties mean products that looked fine leaving your factory arrive at retail already compromised.

How do you protect confectionery properly? Barrier is usually the answer - the question is which structure gives you the protection you need without overengineering the solution.

Moisture and Oxygen: The Two Enemies

Sugar is hygroscopic - it pulls water from the air. A bag that looks sealed but has inadequate barrier properties will let enough moisture through to soften hard boiled sweets, make toffees sticky, and turn fudge grainy. Standard films aren’t enough if your product sits in ambient retail for weeks.

Oxygen causes different problems. Chocolate contains fats that oxidise, developing off-flavours over time. Biscuits go stale. If your product needs months of shelf life rather than days, you need barrier materials that actually block gas transmission.

Flow Wrap Film

Flow wrap film for HFFS and VFFS lines. Clear BOPP where product visibility matters. Metallised and laminated films for products needing barrier protection.

We stock popular BOPP widths for quick dispatch - plain film that runs on virtually any flow wrapper. Custom sizes, barrier films, and printed reels take 3-4 weeks. If you’re running Ilapak, Bosch, Cavanna, or similar equipment, our films are compatible.

Chocolate bars, biscuit packs, individually wrapped sweets in flow pack format, seasonal products - if it runs through a flow wrapper, we supply the film.

Twist Wrap Film

PET twist wrap film for individually wrapped chocolates and sweets. The kind of film you see on Quality Street, Roses, and traditional sweet shop products. Dead-fold properties mean it stays twisted rather than springing open, and the material has enough stiffness to wrap cleanly at speed.

We convert and supply twist wrap films suitable for both hand wrapping and high-speed twist wrapping machinery. Clear, coloured, printed, or metallised - depending on your product presentation requirements.

Cold Seal Film

Some chocolate products can’t tolerate heat sealing. The temperatures required to seal standard films would damage the chocolate - causing bloom, melting, or texture problems. Cold seal film solves this.

Cold seal uses a pressure-activated adhesive rather than heat. The film seals to itself under pressure without any temperature increase, so your chocolate stays intact. Essential for premium filled chocolates, pralines, and any product where heat is the enemy.

Pouches and Bags

Stand-up pouches and resealable bags for sharing formats, pick and mix, bagged sweets, and retail confectionery. Printed or plain, with zip closures, tear notches, or euro slots.

For simpler applications, we manufacture side weld bags and wicketted bags in-house. Wicketted bags work well for bagging operations where speed matters - pull one off the wicket, drop the product in, seal it, next.

Printed Tissue Paper

Tissue sheets for gift confectionery, chocolate boxes, and hamper presentation. Printed with your branding or plain in a range of colours. Adds a premium touch when customers open the box - that moment of unwrapping matters for gift confectionery.

NatureFlex - Cellulose-based film that’s home compostable. Made from renewable wood pulp, breaks down in home compost within weeks. Requires some equipment adjustment but suits brands where sustainability is central to the story.

Biodegradable BOPP - Runs on existing equipment like standard BOPP but incorporates technology that allows biodegradation if the material escapes into the environment. Recyclable through standard PP streams.

Recyclable mono-materials - PP/PP and PE/PE structures that are easier to recycle than mixed-material laminates. Where barrier requirements allow, these simplify end-of-life.

All cost more than standard materials. We’ll help you work out whether the premium makes sense for your brand and your customers.

Quality and Accreditation

All films are food-grade, EU 10/2011 compliant. BRCGS AA(*) accreditation - the standard major retailers require. Full batch traceability from raw material to finished product. Certificates of conformity when your auditors need them.

We print up to four colours in-house using flexographic printing. For more complex work - ten colours, special finishes, metallic inks - we work with print partners who specialise in high-end confectionery packaging.
