About Printed Greaseproof Paper
Branded Packaging for Growing Chains
Printed greaseproof paper turns functional food wrap into brand presentation. Every burger wrapped, every sandwich served, every tray lined is a chance for customers to see your logo, your colours, your identity. We manufacture printed greaseproof for chains and resellers across the UK.
When Coordination Becomes the Job
What worked at three sites gets complicated at fifteen. Suddenly you’re spending half your time coordinating packaging instead of running your business.
Maybe each site’s ordering their own greaseproof from whoever’s convenient. Maybe you’ve got a supplier who was fine when you were smaller but can’t quite keep up now - late deliveries, inconsistent print quality, documentation that arrives eventually if you chase it. Maybe you’re just paying more than you should because nobody’s had time to sort it out properly.
We supply printed greaseproof to chains and resellers who’ve reached the point where that needs to change.
One Supplier, Consistent Quality
When every site uses the same greaseproof from the same source, things get simpler. Same print quality, same paper weight, same brand presentation whether a customer visits your Brighton branch or your Birmingham one. One invoice, one relationship, one set of documentation when the auditors come calling.
We’re a family-owned UK manufacturer with four decades in flexible packaging. BRCGS AA(*) accredited, which means proper food safety management - batch traceability, documented processes, and compliance certificates that arrive promptly when you need them rather than after three chasers.
The paper itself is EU 10/2011 food contact compliant and genuinely PFAS-free. Greaseproof paper gets its oil resistance either from mechanical refining of the fibres or from chemical treatments - ours is the former, built into the paper structure rather than sprayed on. Biodegradable, compostable, recyclable, and FSC/PEFC certified.
Choosing the Right Paper
We offer white bleached greaseproof in 34gsm and 40gsm, and brown kraft in 40gsm. Which one depends on what you’re wrapping and how you want it to look.
White at 34gsm is the lighter option - works well for sandwiches, lighter bakery items, and applications where you want the paper to do its job without adding bulk. Print shows crisp and clean against the bright background.
White at 40gsm gives you more substance. Better for greasier foods, heavier items, or where you want the paper to feel more premium in hand.
Brown kraft at 40gsm suits brands going for that natural, artisan feel. Popular with bakeries, delis, and food businesses where provenance and craft are part of the story. The unbleached colour says something about your values before anyone reads a word.
Sheets or Reels
Most customers take sheets, cut to whatever size suits their operation. Common formats include 250x250mm, 250x375mm, 300x450mm, and 375x500mm, but we cut to your specification - burger wraps, sandwich sheets, tray liners, basket liners.
For businesses with their own converting or dispensing equipment, we supply reels on 76mm ID cores. Custom widths, whatever reel diameter works for your setup.
Random Repeat vs Register Sheeting
Most printed greaseproof uses random repeat - the design repeats across the reel, and sheets are cut without worrying exactly where the pattern falls. For logos, repeat patterns, and most branded applications, this works well and keeps costs down.
Some applications need the print in exactly the same position on every sheet. Menus printed on greaseproof for a specific tray size. Placemats where the design has to align to the edges. Promotional sheets where a QR code needs to sit in a consistent spot. For these, we offer register sheeting - cutting synchronised to the print position, so every sheet comes out identical.
Register sheeting costs more and generates more waste, so we’d always recommend random repeat where it works. But the capability’s there if you need it.
More Than Printing
We print and convert in-house, which means we can do more than just put ink on paper. Perforation to let hot foods breathe and prevent sweating. Shape punching - we make dies to cut circles, squares, or custom shapes. Greaseproof discs for cake tins, shaped liners for specific containers.
For Resellers and Distributors
A significant part of our business is white-label manufacturing for packaging distributors and catering suppliers. Your relationship with the customer, your brand on the box, our production behind it.
If you’re importing printed greaseproof and dealing with container lead times, customs paperwork, and minimum orders that tie up cash for months, UK manufacturing offers a different approach. 3-4 week lead times, no shipping delays, order quantities that make sense for your stock management.
Call-Off Arrangements
For regular orders, we offer call-off arrangements. Agree your annual volumes, we manufacture in efficient runs and hold stock, you call off what you need when you need it. Better for your cash flow, easier on your storage, and you’re never caught short.
The Practical Details
Lead times run 3-4 weeks from artwork approval. Minimum orders start at 15,000-30,000 sheets depending on size.
Four-colour printing in-house handles most requirements. For more complex work - photographic images, subtle gradients, designs needing more colours - we work with print partners who can do up to ten.
If you want food-grade manufacturing and a supplier who answers the phone, we’re worth a conversation.
